TWO casualties were saved from a house fire in Runcorn.

Fire crews were alerted to the blaze on Bridgeway West yesterday evening, Thursday.

Two fire engines were dispatched from Stockton Heath and Runcorn to attend the incident where a ground floor bedroom had caught fire.

Firefighters were in attendance of the blaze for three hours and had to wear breathing apparatus to enter the property.

The two casualties found inside the property were rescued from the flames and received a medical assessment from the fire service.

Two horse reel jets and a high-pressure fan were used to help extinguish the flames and smoke from the room.

Crews then used a thermal imaging camera to take regular heat readings and dampen hot areas where necessary.

Fire investigators were also called to the incident to undergo further inspections.
