THE festive season has officially hit The Brindley as they welcome an exciting musical to the stage based on the hit Christmas comedy, Nativity.
Fresh from their hit production of Elf the Musical in 2022, Centenary are back with another modern Christmas classic.
Opening night kicks off at The Brindley next Tuesday, with showings available up until Saturday, November, 18.
Based on the hit movie starring Martin Freeman, Nativity follows the story of Paul Maddens, a primary school teacher at St Bernadette’s in Coventry.
Having previously been awarded minus 2 stars for his nativity play, Mr Maddens vows never to direct another school show.
However, when he bumps into his old rival Mr Shakespeare, teacher at Oakmoor Prep, he cannot stand being overshadowed by the school once again.
In a panic, he tells Mr Shakespeare that his ex-girlfriend turned-Hollywood-producer Jennifer is coming to see St Bernadette’s nativity to turn it into a movie.
The whole town starts buzzing with excitement and begins preparations for their special visitor. But there’s one problem: Mr Maddens lied.
Now, along with his bumbling classroom assistant Mr Poppy, he must prepare the children for the performance of a lifetime with the promise of Hollywood lights waiting on the other side.
Meanwhile, Mr Shakespeare is not one to be outshone and orders the students at Oakmoor to dazzle the local critic in the hopes of winning the honorary 5-star review and attracting Hollywood to his own show.
In an attempt to bring some real Christmas movie magic to the town, Mr Maddens tries desperately to reconnect with Jennifer, going as far as flying out to Los Angeles to find her.
Can he save both Christmas and his relationship? Will the school put on a Hollywood-worthy show? Or will Mr Maddens’ lies catch up with him?
Director, Dean Callow, said: “We have a fantastic cast involved in Nativity the Musical, with some extra special surprises to keep our audience at the edge of their seats.
“It’s been fantastic to see the show coming together, particularly seeing a number of children take their first steps in the Theatre world.
“Nativity is such an entertaining and hilarious show, after 5 months of rehearsals I still find things to make me laugh. You won’t be disappointed in this fun for all the family Musical.”
Tickets are available now and are priced at £22.50 for adults and £20.50 for concessions. Family tickets at £75 are also available.
