CINEWORLD Runcorn has announced it will be sadly closing its doors for the final time.
In what was described as a ‘difficult decision’, the news was announced this afternoon.
It will shut on November 26.
A spokesperson for the chain said: “We can confirm that following a review of all available options, we have taken the difficult decision to close Cineworld Runcorn.”
Cineworld Runcorn has thanked all of its customers for choosing it as their local cinema.
“We hope to see them again soon at one of our nearby cinemas in Speke, Warrington, Broughton and St Helens,” a spokesperson added.
‘Gutted’ residents have expressed their sadness at the news.
One person said: “It’s a sad day. A lovely cinema with a fantastic team.”
Another said: “I wouldn't live in Runcorn if it wasn't for the cinema.
“I used to travel from Warrington to watch all the latest films - the staff were always friendly and genuinely into film.
“Eventually I got so used to coming that it eventually occurred to me to move here.”
Others have said the closure is a ‘huge loss’ for the town.
It comes after the Trident Park venue originally closed in 2020. But a petition was launched by staff to keep it open.
