A DELIBERATE blaze was started in a disused building on Victoria Square in Widnes.
Fire crews from Penketh and Widnes attended the scene at approximately 6.30pm yesterday evening, Saturday.
The fire was started after some waste in the building was set alight.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a horse reel jet to extinguish the flames.
Cheshire Police were informed of the incident as it is believed the fire was started 'deliberately'.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire said: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out a fire involving refuse. Police were informed as it is believed the fire was started deliberately."
