A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to support a young family from Runcorn who are mourning the tragic loss of their ‘beautiful’ baby boy.
Niamh, 21, and Ryan Eyres, 22, were ‘head over heels’ when they welcomed their first-born into the world, Brodie-Jax, on August 25.
Weighing 6lb 6oz the new parents described him as ‘beautiful from head to toe’.
But sadly, and unexpectedly at just six days old Brodie-Jax fell ill, and Niamh and Ryan had to say a ‘heartbreaking’ goodbye.
“It happened out of nowhere at 6am. One minute he was awake and needed his nappy changing and then he just went behind the eyes,” Ryan said.
“Being first time parents, we didn’t know what was wrong so we called an ambulance but before we could get him to A and E he was gone.
“It has been completely heartbreaking.”
The young dad told of a ‘horrible’ 12 months the couple had experienced in the lead up to the birth.
“We both lost grandparents we were really close to during the pregnancy,” he said, adding that their baby boy was a light in their life after a difficult year.
Niamh’s sister Nikki Helps decided to create a Go Fund Me page for the couple to raise some money to help support them.
She described the sheer ‘strength’ shown by the pair throughout.
“The night Brodie grew his wings is one no one will forget. Niamh and Ryan stayed strong and got all the help they could to try and keep Brodie here.
“Ryan tried his hardest waiting for the ambulance to keep him breathing but our boy was just too tired, he just couldn’t stay.
“He has taken a part of Niamh and Ryan’s hearts with him the day he grew his wings and as you can all imagine they are completely and utterly heartbroken.”
Nikki added that the donations will give the couple ‘time they need to grieve’ without worrying about their return to work.
“The Family would really appreciate anything just to help them out.
“Both Niamh and Ryan are loved by so many people, they are both amazing people who have an impact on everyone they meet.
“They have always been there for so many and this time they are the ones needing help. Brodie-Jax will never be forgotten, and he will forever remain in everyone’s hearts.”
