A HEARTBROKEN family is looking for answers after the ‘evil’ killing of their cat.
Cheshire Police have confirmed a report that a cat in Widnes was found dead, with the cat, Monty, believed to have been shot.
Monty’s owner, Sophie Wood, posted the news in a community group, saying:
“I know people don’t like cats but you have stolen my pet from me in the most cruel way possible.
“Monty has been shot and killed in the Upton Rocks estate in the part closest to Widnes train station. It looks like an air rifle bullet.
“He was only 1 year old and wouldn’t hurt a fly. I am just gobsmacked and bereft and don’t know why someone would do something this evil.
“I’m sending the X-ray showing the bullet in him and any cctv footage that we have to the police.
“Cat owners beware.”
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said of the incident: “At 5.45pm on Tuesday 5 September police were made aware of reports that a cat had been found dead on Jefferson Gardens, Widnes.
“The caller reported that the cat was last seen on Sunday, September 3 between 7.30pm and 8pm, and was found dead late on Monday morning (September 4).
“The owner had taken the cat to the vets and it is believed that the animal had been shot.
“Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting IML-1638033.”
