THREE swans were rescued in a ‘totally pain free’ operation thanks to Widnes firefighters.
The White Watch team from Widnes Fire Station assisted a local wildlife group on Monday, June 5, in saving the last of the regal species that were stranded on Spike Island.
Using netting, the group managed to guide the swans to safety before relocating them to their new home in Winsford.
The trio were the last of 20 swans that awaited being rescued and relocated to a new safe home.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire Service said: “The rescue was quick and totally pain free, the swans were soon off to their new home.”
