A SEAL was spotted visiting Widnes this afternoon, Tuesday.
Sophie McGenity spotted the seal at Spike Island just before 12pm.
She saw it in the locks as the gates are open due to high tide.
Sophie said the seal snorted at her and then swam off.
A number of seal sightings have been reported just down the road from Widnes over the last few months.
One was spotted in the Mersey in Warrington earlier this year.
