WIDNES Vikings have announced that CEO Phil Finney has left after almost 14 years of service to his hometown club.
Finney was appointed Performance Director in 2018, and played a key role in guiding the club out of administration in 2019.
He had previously held the position of Head of Youth Performance at Widnes Vikings, where he played an integral role in the development of the club’s successful Academy system.
Prior to his 2009 appointment at Vikings, Finney was a Lead Performance Analyst for the Rugby Football League (RFL) and teacher.
Finney explained: “After almost 14 years the time is right for me and my family to have a change and pursue new opportunities and challenges.
“As a Widnesian and lifelong fan, it has been a privilege to work for the club I have always supported and something I will always cherish. “I would like to thank all of the supporters, players, staff and sponsors I have had the pleasure of working with over the years and wish the club all the very best in the future.”
The Widnes Vikings Board of Directors sent their thanks to Finney for his 14 years’ service with the club.
