2023 started off in the best possible way for one Widnes family who welcomed their new bundles of joy on New Year’s Day.
It was a busy day for midwives at Warrington Hospital who delivered eight babies on January 1 - with the first baby at 1.32am and the last at 11.17pm.
We spoke to seven proud parents whose babies were born on New Year's Day, including Eliza-Mae Jones-Bale's family.
Eliza-Mae was the first to arrive at 1.32am to proud parents Emily Sutton and Jordan Jones-Bale.
Weighing 7lb 14.05oz, life with Eliza, who is from Widnes, so far has been ‘brilliant’ – especially for her four-year-old brother Roman.
Emily, 29, said: “He is absolutely besotted by her and it is just absolutely brilliant.
“He always wants to be around her.”
Emily never used to be a fan of New Year’s Eve, but the arrival of Eliza-Mae has changed that.
