NEW photos taken from the top of one of the area’s tallest buildings show spectacular views of Widnes and Runcorn.
For many decades, Fiddler’s Ferry power station in Cuerdley has been a landmark on the landscape, visible for many miles around.
But the iconic cooling towers are set to be demolished next year to make way for housing and new industrial usage.
Before that happened, we sent photographer Dave Gillespie to the top of the stack – the tallest structure at the site which even towers over the cooling towers.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will bring you some of the stunning shots he was able to get, showing the area we live from a different vantage.
The first instalment focuses on Widnes and Runcorn. How much do you recognise?
