A MAN was taken to Whiston Hospital following a 'serious assault' in Runcorn that left him with a stab wound, police say.
Officers say the assault took place on Thursday, October 20, at around 9.50am.
The incident happened on Halton Road, and a 42-year-old man was injured.
He was taken to Whiston Hospital with a 'slash wound,' though he has since been discharged.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault in connection with the incident, he has since been released on conditional bail.
Detective Constable Matt Furlong, of Runcorn local policing unit, said: "I would like to reassure residents that this was an isolated incident and we are doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.
“One man was arrested following the incident and he has since been released on conditional bail, while we progress our investigation.
“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the disturbance."
DC Furlong added: “The same goes for anyone with any video footage of the incident.
