After Phuket we caught a flight to Kuala Lumpur where we had booked in to the 5 star Hyatt Saujana Golf Resort, where the Malaysian Golf Open was held last year. When I booked it 6 months ago on the internet I hadn't imagined how we would look at this stage in our trip arriving at Malaysia's number one golf resort carrying our backpacks with trainers and sleeping bags attached ha ha. Steven was mortified, I was almost crying with laughter at how embarrased he was arriving in a clapped out taxi looking just like travellers do....scruffy. The resort was brilliant although it was hard on a budget when a drink in the bar was about 5/6 pounds! We did the usual touristy things and saw the twin towers and the KL Tower and then the next day at breakfast one of the waiters told us that the Malaysian Golf Open was being held 5 minutes away while we were there. The Open was a great day out, it cost us a fiver each to get in and it was fairly empty so we were able to sneak on camera and wave to the relatives at a few holes! The heat was unbearable though and it was over 100 degrees. At first we were following the last group with Britain's 'Dougherty' in it but I had to leave Steven and wait at the 18th tee because I couldn't hack the heat. While stood there looking hot and bothered and trying to frantically fan myself an English man came up to me and started talking to me about how the weather was really hot, unlike back home. Then I realised he was wearing a golfing glove and he was crossing from the 17th hole to tee off...he was Britain's 'Graeme Storm'. Just before he teed off he went to the golfers water box and took out a bottle of water and brought it over to me....I must have looked that exhausted that he felt sorry for me ha ha. The 18th tee turned out to be a great spot, not only did we make it on TV a couple of times but I also got chatting to a few golfers and Wilson's caddy (also from England) was laughing saying I must be mad to even be walking around in this heat because he certainly wouldn't be if he wasn't get paid for it! Good point I thought as let's face it I haven't got a clue about golf and was not enjoying the heat one little bit....but Steven loved it and it's not something I will probably get to do again.
Kuala Lumpur itself is a great city - a lot more westernised than Thailand and people speak great English here. They are very friendly and i'd definitely come here again. Next stop Singapore...
