A Warrington-based theatre group are to return for the first time since Covid to perform a sensational musical based on the iconic 1980’s Dolly Parton film ‘9 to 5’.
Encore Productions will make its debut at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn between Thursday 22 and Saturday 24, September.
The lively comedy driven show is based on the hit film featuring Hollywood star Dolly Parton in what was to be her theatrical film debut. 9 to 5 is a timeless comedy which combines women empowerment with classic well-loved melodies written by Parton herself.
Its narrative follows three working women who bond over their equal hatred for ‘sexist and pompous’ boss Franklin Hart, as they plot his takedown.
This musical comes at an exciting time for the theatre group, originally based at Cody’s Productions in Warrington, as they return to ‘The Brindley’ for the first time since before the pandemic.
Speaking of the upcoming show, the group said the following: “We are thrilled to be returning to the Brindley and everything we have done over the last 12 months has led to this moment. Our members and audiences have been so supportive, and we cannot wait to have them at the theatre to see this fabulous show, and our plans beyond.”
As well as preparing for the musical, Encore has also recently produced three ‘sell-out’ events based in local social clubs, titled ‘The Big Night Out’, to entice audiences back to the theatre.
Established in 2018, Encore Productions has performed many successful musicals including Goodnight Mr Tom, Rock of Ages and Summer Holiday.
Tickets for 9 to 5 are now on sale and can be purchased by contacting 907 8360 or visiting The Brindley website on thebrindley.org
