POLICE look set to investigate claims a domestic garage was deliberately set on fire.
Fire crews were sent to a property on Grangemoor in Runcorn in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, July 30).
Two fire engines from Penketh arrived at the scene shortly after 5.30am and managed to extinguish the flames.
However, the police were then requested to attend as it is believed the fire was started deliberately.
Firefighters also checked neighbouring garages to ensure the blaze hadn't spread to them as well.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A domestic garage was involved in a fire that is believed to have been started deliberately.
"The fire was extinguished by the crews who requested police attend due to the suspicious nature of the fire.
"Surrounding garages were checked to ensure there was no fire spread."
