Runcorn cup semi final Pierpoint & Bryant F.C. 0 Bridge Timber F.C. 2 Bridge Timber made it through to the Runcorn sunday cup final with a good 2-0 win against Warringtons Pierpoint.Liam Sweeney came close after 7 minutes but his header was just wide.Bridge had another couple of chances but pierpoints keeper kept Bridge at bay with some great saves.At the other end Timbers keeper Andy Stringer had to dive full stretch to keep out a good shot from pierpoint to keep the game 0-0 at half time.Louis Watson worked well with Jacques to manufacture another chance for Bridge, Kev Ward got clear but another outstanding save kept it level and Bridge continued to pressure with Jay o Brien causeing mayhem down the right before finding Kev Ward who turned and smacked the upright and his rebound came back to Sweeney whose diving header was held by the pierpoint keeper.Bridge finally broke the deadlock on 78 mins when Kev Patterson and Paul Hives worked well and Hives measured his pass for Jay o Brien to cross to the near post for Kev Ward to strike home for 1-0.Bridge Timbers back four,Dave Tierney,Lee Evan,Ste Coady and Gary Jacques kept Pierpoints attacks limited with some fine defending and the introduction of Lewis Buckley finally calmed Timbers nerves after his skill saw him brought down in the box for a penalty, Ste Coady stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to send Bridge through were they meet Halton barley on the 20th April.
