A THIRTEEN-year-old boy was seriously injured in an attempted robbery after being assaulted by two attackers in Widnes.
The teenager was waiting for a friend near to Avondale Drive at around 9.15pm on Wednesday, June 8, when he was approached by two other boys.
They began to assault the youngster, striking him ‘multiple times’ – causing him serious injuries – and attempting to take his phone.
But the offenders fled after the victim’s friend arrived at the scene.
Cheshire Police previously made two arrests in connection with the incident, but the pair have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries by the force.
Officers are now appealing for information from members of the public.
Police constable Alex Lloyd said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by the ordeal.
“I want to reassure the community that we are working hard to make sure those responsible are identified and caught.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and as part of this we are asking anyone with any information – no matter how small it may be – to come forward.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage which may help our investigation.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the constabulary on 101, quoting incident number IML1288451, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
