A WIDNES pub has received its second makeover in just six months – meaning it has now received a six-figure refurbishment.

The Horse and Jockey, on Birchfield Road, received a new garden and outside bar last summer.

But it now features new signage and lighting and the inside has been ‘completely transformed’.

The traditional pub, owned by Red Oak Taverns, has kept its character with new furniture, bespoke designed wallpaper featuring horses, all new décor and local interest artwork.

The bar has been changed and the latest sound system has been incorporated, while the kitchen has also undergone a complete refit.

Debbie Topping, who operates the pub, said: “The place looks fantastic.

“We’ve now got a beautiful cosy pub with a brilliant outside eating and drinking area.

"I can’t wait to see more and more customers experience this special pub."

Runcorn and Widnes World:

Barry Lee, business development manager for Red Oak Taverns said: “Debbie knows what makes a great pub and now it’s been transformed both inside and out, the local community have a real gem to enjoy.”

Debbie will be continuing to serve her tapas style street food menu which includes authentically sourced Spanish dishes.

There will be regular tribute music and local acts and both Sky and BT live sport will be shown.

“Working with Red Oak on the investment has been easy and they have supported the development every step of the way,” Debbie added.
