A SCHOOL in Widnes has had a ‘breath-taking’ mural added to their school grounds.
Following the motto, ‘don’t tell my the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon’, the mural was painted by artist Rory McCann with the help of some pupils at for St Gerard's Catholic Primary and Nursery School.
It was an opportunity to celebrate talent, success and promote a love of art to the young children.
Mr Landrum, head teacher, said: "There are no words to describe how wonderful this artwork is and how proud we are to have it on our school grounds.
“Over the past week we have been watching Rory McCann hard at work creating this wonderful Widnes scene.
“Our children and parents/carers have been watching this work develop during drop off/collection times and are delighted with what Rory has produced.”
A parent commented: "It has been amazing to watch the artist create this beautiful piece of art over the last week! He is one very talented man!"
Mrs Prince, head of art, added: "We are delighted that our children were able to work with such a talented artist.
“Our year six children were eager to get involved in the creation of the mural.
“They contributed some fantastic ideas for the stunning skyline.
“All of our children, from reception to year six, had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Rory in this project.
“We are so pleased with the final piece. It is a great addition to our school and it celebrates the heritage and features of where we live."
