POLICE in Runcorn and Widnes have been taking part in a week-long campaign aimed at reducing knife crime.
As part of Operation Sceptre, police across Cheshire held knife amnesties at supermarkets and shops, while carrying out knife sweeps in the community.
One was completed in Runcorn in the wooded area behind the YMCA and Cotton Lane on the Grange.
KnifeSavers Bleed Control Kits were also delivered to a number of locations throughout Runcorn.
These include Spar in Palacefields, Runcorn Police Station, the Community Shop, Shopping City, Mcdonalds, Brindley Theatre, all community centres, Queen of Hearts Public House, Brookvale Recreation Centre, Creative Support, Halton Lodge (Formally YMCA), Change Grow Live, CHI Café, Archery Club, The Linnets Football Club, Esposito's, Shaw's Butchers, Runcorn Train Station, ABC Boxing Club, Co-op in Murdishaw and Beechwood Community Centre and Swimming Pool.
Meanwhile, as part of the efforts in Widnes, a man was stopped and searched in Widnes town centre by the Widnes Neighbourhood team.
He was found in possession of 47 wraps of class A drugs.
His address was searched where further drugs recovered and a meat cleaver was located in the bedroom.
