Homeless residents at Halton YMCA have been involved in writing poems, internet research and creating posters and art work to be displayed at our local Halton Lodge Community Centre.
The display was to promote World AIDS Day on 1st December 2007.
The display also included information about Mangalore YMCA. Mangalore is situated in Karnataka, India. The YMCA started in 2003 with one child. This YMCA now provides support to 59 young children of which 30 of these children receive care in the community and 29 at home.
Halton YMCA aims to raise funds for orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Mangalore India.
The residents made personalised red ribbons and wrote about what they knew about AIDS/HIV before they started to research the subject more.
Members of the local community and youth groups who utilise the community centre have welcomed the display and are buying red ribbons to help Halton YMCA raise funds for the National Aids Trust (NAT)and are also making donations to Mangalore through Halton YMCA.
