THE date on which former Widnes Vikings centre Anthony Gelling will stand trial has been confirmed.
New Zealander Gelling was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on his girlfriend Toni Mackey in connection with the incident at his home in Widnes back in February.
Appearing at Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon, Tuesday, the 29-year-old - who now plays for Warrington Wolves - was told he will stand trial on May 12, 2021.
This follows his not guilty plea entered at Warrington Magistrates' Court on July 28.
Wearing a white shirt and grey trousers, Gelling was supported in court by Wolves' head of rugby operations Kylie Leuluai.
The former Wigan Warriors star was arrested by Cheshire Police at his home in Cronton Lane Mews on February 6.
He has been granted unconditional bail.
