EXCITEMENT is building among the boys who will be representing Wade Deacon High School at Wembley tomorrow.
The year 12 rugby league team will face St John Fisher from Wigan in the Champion Schools final, which is the curtain-raiser to the Challenge Cup Final between Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves.
Wade Deacon’s players and coaches visited Wembley today to get a taste of the venue before tomorrow’s big occasion, as did the Super League teams.
“Everybody’s really excited,” said Chaz I’anson, Wade Deacon High School PE teacher at the Wembley pitchside.
“We set off early this morning and the boys were buzzing on the bus. It was a loud bus, shouting and singing.
“Now they’ve got here I think reality’s hit home a bit. But it’s great to come here, soak it up, get used to the environment and have a bit of a look around.
“For some of the boys it is the first time they have ever been to Wembley.
“They’re really excited, nerves are kicking in, but we’re looking forward to what will be, for some of them, a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
