STAFF on a blood cancer ward at Halton Hospital have been recognised as Beacons of Hope by the Lymphoma Association for making a difference to patients.
Kate Jones, a manager on the haematology PIU ward collected the award from the national cancer charity.
A patient, who nominated the team for the award, said: “Both my husband and I have been diagnosed with cancer.
“The team helped our family and always made time for explanations, with particular support for our three children who were extremely upset and worried about what was about to happen.
“They have the amazing ability to put each individual patient at ease.
“People walk into the ward feeling worried, scared and anxious and through the team’s positive interaction, caring support and professionalism always leave with a smile.”
