AN incensed motorist verbally abused a paramedic for blocking a street in Runcorn as an ambulance crew tended an emergency call.
The man screamed and swore at the female paramedic for not turning on her hazard lights.
After ranting and raging he drove off.
The incident was caught on camera by a resident who urged people to watch it, saying: “So this is the abuse our paramedics face for parking in the street whilst saving saving a life.”
The video has been viewed on social media more than 980,000 times.
Paramedics confirmed they were called to an address on Union Street at midday on Sunday and took a patient to Warrington Hospiotal.
A North West Ambulance spokesman said: “How do you find the words to comment on the actions of this individual when crews are treating someone who could have been in a life critical condition?
“This man needs to ask how himself how he would feel if it was his grandparent, mum, dad or child that we were treating, would he be happy that we waste precious time searching for a better parking space?
“Our staff work day and night to save lives, and do not deserve abuse from anyone for something as trivial as blocking a minor road.
“What was a minor inconvenience for him, was a traumatic time for this patient and if he would like to get in touch so we can explain how every second counts when saving a life, we would be happy to arrange this.”
Cheshire Police has confirmed they are currently investigating the incident.
