I AM hoping your readers will help me with my PhD research project based at the University of Chester.
Over the past few months it has been my privilege to meet and record the life stories of some of the oldest working class men living in the historic counties of Lancashire and Cheshire.
I am particularly interested to find men born in Liverpool but who moved out of the city and now live elsewhere, or men who worked in traditional heavy industry in either county.
This is the first generation of working class men to live into their late 80s, 90s and beyond in any numbers.
By recording and listening to the men’s life stories I hope to uncover some of the reasons for their long lives.
I am keen to hear from any individual, or their family and friends, who may be able to help me with this work.
The only requirements for taking part in the project are to be over 85, able to agree to take part and be still living in Lancashire or Cheshire, including in residential homes.
