Halton Council is celebrating National Fitness Day on Wednesday, September 27 with a programme of group activities.
Research shows that if people exercise with company they are more likely to stick to it as the social atmosphere creates a positive environment which is important in helping us enjoy the activity.
To celebrate the value of being outside, a range of outdoor activities are planned including walking, jogging and running.
Halton Cllr Phil Harris, board member for sport, said: "This is a great opportunity to launch a fitness regime to suit your lifestyle.
"We have a variety of classes at different times of the day and different days of the week."
In Widnes there is the walk fit bootcamp at the Frank Myler Pavilion on Liverpool Road from 12.30pm to 1pm.
A couch to 5k taster session starts at 6pm at Halton Athletic Track. Widnes Running Club takes place from 6.45pm to 8.30pm.
In Runcorn there is walk fit bootcamp between 12.30pm and 1pm at Runcorn Hill.
A couch to 5K taster session begins at 6pm in Phoenix Park in Castlefields and a run-fit bootcamp follows between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
People are advised to meet in the cafes at both parks.
