A WIDNES dog walker has donated more than £150 worth of harnesses and collars to help abandoned pets in Spain.
Julie Clark, who runs Walkies Dog Walking and Training Services, has recommended several people to White Cross Vets in Widnes.
She received a £10 cash reward for each referral and used the money to buy goods to send to The Dog House, a rescue centre in Almogia run by Donna Saunders.
Julie said: “Dog cruelty and abandonment is a real issue in Spain and Donna and her staff take dogs in who have very little chance of surviving under their wing, rehabilitating them and finding them homes.
“I have been supporting them for several years.
"When White Cross Vets opened in Widnes I noticed they had a refer a friend policy.
“Having taken my own pets Marvin and Hazard to the practice and being incredibly impressed with their level of care and service I decided to recommend a friend and then another and another!”
Donna, who also has her own dog training centre, grooming parlour and pet lodge in south east Spain helps to find homes for dogs that are abandoned, sick and often living on the streets.
Many of the animals have been thrown out of moving cars, put in a bin, or a bag in the river to drown.
Vet Archie Cumming from White Cross Vets in Upton Rocks, said: “It’s so generous that Julie is using the money she has received to help pets in need in Spain and we are delighted to be supporting her with her charitable giving.”
