POLLS have opened across Halton this morning.
After six weeks of campaigning, it is time for people to decide who to choose at the ballot box.
Sixty candidates will also be contesting 18 seats across Runcorn and Widnes as one third of Halton Council’s members are also up for grabs.
All eyes will be on Weaver Vale’s marginal seat which includes east Runcorn and Daresbury.
Conservative Graham Evans won in 2010 by 999 votes.
He is contesting the election alongside five candidates: Julia Tickridge Labour, Mary Di Mauro Liberal Democrat, Amos Wright UKIP, Chris Copeman Green and Joe Whyte Trade Unionist and Social Coalition.
In Halton, Labour’s Derek Twigg, who won the last election with a majority of 15, 504 votes, also faces opposition from five candidates: Matthew Lloyd Conservative, Ryan Bate, David Melvin Green, Vic Turton Independent and Glyn Redican UKIP.
Counting of votes in the parliamentary election starts in Halton at 2am on Friday, May 8. The result is expected between 3am and 4am.
Results of the Halton Council election will be declared at around 4.30pm on Friday.
