WORLD Cup fever kicked off at Warrington Road Nursery School in Widnes as pupils celebrated the tournament with soccer themed activities.
Youngsters were invited to wear football kits or sport their favourite teams’ colours and take part in all sorts of challenges.
Head teacher Amanda Brown said: “Physical Development is really important for young children. Using children’s current interest in the World Cup, we have been focussing on developing the skills needed to catch and also kick a ball.
“These skills rely on the children having the gross motor control and eye co-ordination to track and then catch the ball, which are also important pre reading and writing skills.”
