HISTORIC images of local people serving their country can now be seen at a touch screen kiosk in Halton Lea Library.
It is the first of Halton’s events to commemmorate the centenary of the First World War.
Great War Stories Cheshire will be in Runcorn Shopping Centre until Friday, February 14, and will then move to Widnes Library until Friday, March 28.
The images depict different aspects of the Great War, the men who went away to fight and never returned, the people left behind and the war memorials.
Special posters created by Halton librarians about Victoria Cross war heroes Thomas Alfred ‘Todger’ Jones and Thomas Mottershead will also be displayed.
Halton Council is now appealing for your photographs, documents, objects and oral history of the Great War.
Roadshows will be held at Halton Lea Library on Monday, February 10, from 11am to 4pm and at Widnes Library on Monday, March 17, from 11am to 4pm.
If you are unable to attend, you can e-mail your images to haltonlea.library@halton.gov.uk or widnes.library@halton.gov.uk
