YOUNGSTERS from Runcorn identified grot spots on their estate and then volunteered to clean them up.
Children from a local youth club in Hallwood Park form part of a junior forum of Four Estates community charity.
They made banners to promote their litter pick and pointed out grot spots to community wardens, employed by social housing provider, Riverside.
The local landlord rewarded the youngsters for their efforts with £5 gift vouchers.
Lorna Hughes, Riverside’s community engagement officer, said: “Children from the youth club were keen to highlight the litter issue on the estate. Getting out there to tackle it themselves does encourage others to make an effort to keep their streets tidy.”
The children plan to organise summer events and raise money for youth activities to improve their communities.
