EATING regular meals is very important to keep you fit and healthy says professional rugby player Danny Craven.
The 21-year-old is the latest Widnes Viking to join the World’s Let’s Cook: Healthy Halton campaign.
First team players are sharing their recipes and tips on how to keep fit.
Captain Jon Clark and players Hep Cahill and Frank Winterstein have already told us about their passion for food.
Danny, who used to play for West Bank Bears, said: “I’ve been playing rugby since I was six. I was crying my eyes out when my dad first took me but after my first session, I’ve never looked back. I love the game.”
Danny starts his day with cereal and then has a protein shake after doing some weights.
For lunch, he usually tucks into a healthy stir fry with a jacket potato.
He then has meat with pasta, potatoes or rice in the evening.
Danny, who gained the Young Player of the Year award last year, said: “I like to cook my own stuff. I like quick things and keep it simple.
“I’d advise kids not to miss meals through the day because it catches up on you.
“Make sure you eat meat and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. You need to have protein and carbohydrates.”
