JOYCE YATES Wife of the late Eric Yates, passed away on 13th January, aged 94. Joyce was born in Orford, Warrington and lived there for most of her life before moving into The Old Rectory, Grappenhall, in 2019. She married Eric Yates in 1948 and lived in Roscoe Avenue for over 60 years. During World War 2, Joyce spent many happy hours dancing at the Red Cross club and she maintained her love of dancing and socializing throughout her life. She was employed at Warrington Tax Office and at the Education Department for many years and thoroughly enjoyed her work and the company of her colleagues. She also enjoyed gardening and holidays with friends, but most of all, Joyce was devoted to her family. She was at her happiest raising and playing with her young family across three generations. She leaves two sons and is pre-deceased by her two other children, a son and a daughter. She also leaves six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Donations were made to the British Heart Foundation and the family thank relatives and friends for their support. A service was held on 29th January at Warrington Cemetery Chapel before interment at Fox Covert Cemetery. Fr David Heywood officiated and arrangements were made by John Burrows & Sons.
