A RARE signed copy of a Beatles record has earned a Widnes collector £6,000.
Several red label issues of The Beatles first single, Love Me Do, were brought to a free Beatles and pop memorabilia valuation day at Stobart Stadium.
“We bought a beautiful copy obtained at the time by a local resident,” said Paul Wane, of Tracks Limited.
“The Beatles carried out two signings in Widnes, on October 5, 1962.”
One was at Harts Music Shop and the second was at Dawson’s Music Shop.
“Unfortunately, no one came in with any concert memorabilia, despite the fact that The Beatles played in Widnes on several occasions.
“An original concert poster from one of these Widnes gigs would be worth around £4,000 to £5,000.”
The Beatles played five times at the Queens Hall in 1961 and 1963.
