RIVERSIDE College’s new principal Michael Sheehan, appointed to steer the crisis-torn college to success after a scathing Ofsted inspection, has won the support of Halton’s two MPs.
Halton MP Derek Twigg and Runcorn MP Mike Hall said they were both very impressed with his drive and determination.
Mr Hall said: “He has a very clear vision about how to take Riverside College forward and provide high quality education that the people of Halton deserve.”
Mr Twigg added: “I am very impressed that he already has proposals to take the college forward, to build on the strengths that are already here and make the necessary changes that need to take place.
“The college has the potential to deliver first class education for the community of Halton.”
Mr Twigg has personal experience of the college as a former student. His children have also studied at Riverside College.
Mr Sheehan said: “I was delighted that our two MPs are so supportive of the college and our vision for the future.
“The college has a very positive relationship with the MPs and the local authority.
“I am confident that working in partnership we can provide outstanding education for the whole community.”
