FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a car burst into flames on the motorway last night, Tuesday.
Two fire engines from Powey Lane and Ellesmere Port fire stations were dispatched to the M56.
This came after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a car fire shortly after 10pm.
The incident occurred on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 14 for Chester Services and 12 for Runcorn.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out the vehicle fire and dampen the area down.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for hotspots.
A fire service spokesman confirmed that there were no reported casualties.
