A MAN was arrested by officers using a taser, Cheshire Police says.
The force was informed of a reported sighting of a man with a knife on Quinn Street in Widnes on Friday.
Officers attended the scene at around midday and gave chase on foot, utilising their taser training to arrest him safely, the force said.
A kitchen knife was found hidden in a drain nearby, with a suspect arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At midday on Friday, April 19, police were called to reports of suspicious activity on Quinn Street, Widnes.
“The caller reported a man who was possibly in possession of a weapon.
“Officers attended and the 23-year-old man was located in the Oxford Street area.
“He initially made off from officers on foot but was stopped and arrested on Cambridge Street on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
“A knife was also located nearby.
“The man has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
