A NORTH west charity will extend its services to Halton after receiving a grant.

Pure Insight 1628 is an organisation that matches funding for specialist care leavers in Stockport, Cheshire East, Salford and Warrington.

Now, thanks to a huge grant from Liverpool One Foundation, the charity is looking to extend their services to Halton.

The Liverpool One Foundation Grant started 15 years ago and helps to fund projects supporting young people’s mental health across the Liverpool City Region.

This year, 10 organisations received over a quarter of a million pounds worth of funding, including Pure Insight 1628.

“Pure Insight is delighted to have received funding from the Liverpool One Foundation to develop our services for young care leavers in Halton,” said Sarah Sturmey, a spokesperson for Pure Insight.

“Like all young people, care leavers need access to a reliable, consistent network of adults to navigate life challenges and thrive.

“This funding will support us to develop our mentoring service for young people leaving children’s homes and foster care, many of whom are living alone at the age of 18 with minimal support networks.”

Mentors from Pure Insight are matched on a one-to-one basis to help people leaving care ages 16 to 25.

Halton Council will be working alongside Pure Insight to extend the service across the area.

In the last 15 years, Liverpool One Foundation has supported more than 430 grants – with last year marking the £3 million grant milestone.

“Organisations like Pure Insight so such crucial work in the Liverpool City Region, helping to keep our young people happy, healthy and thriving,” said Rae Brooke, chief executive of the community foundation for Merseyside.

“This year’s Liverpool One Foundation grants to youth organisations across the Liverpool City Region are a continuation of out investment in our city’s young people and their futures.

“We can’t wait to see the positive impact they have.”
