AN arson investigation has been launched following a car fire in Runcorn.

One fire engine from Runcorn Fire Station was dispatched to Waterford Way in the early hours of this morning, Monday.

This came after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the incident shortly after midnight.

On arrival at the scene, firefighters found that the car was ‘well alight’.

The crew used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

A fire service spokesman said: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.”
