A ROAD in Runcorn had to be cordoned off by police this morning as firefighters dealt with a blazing vehicle fire.
This morning, Tuesday, September 12, a vehicle burst into flames on Maple Avenue, in Runcorn.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, with one fire engine from Runcorn being sent to deal with the fire.
The blaze is believed to have been caused by an overheated engine. Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to tackle the flames.
Cheshire Police also attended the scene and cordoned off the road whilst the fire crew worked to extinguish the car.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 9.11am on Tuesday, September 12, police received reports of a vehicle fire on Maple Avenue, Runcorn.
“Officers attended the scene and cordoned off the road whilst the firefighters extinguished the blaze.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the scene was cleared shortly after 9.40am.”
