FIREFIGHTERS tackled a car fire in Widnes.
Crews discovered a vehicle well ablaze in Liverpool Road shortly before 8.30pm last night.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with two hose reel jets.
Three hours later, crews were called to a conifer hedge fire on Frederick Street in Widnes.
Hose reel jets were used to put out the fire at around 11.30pm.
Earlier in the day trees were torched in a wooded area behind Scott Avenue in Widnes.
Firefighters put out the small fire shortly after 2.30pm with hand held extinguishers.
