FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze involving a large quantity of scrap metal in Widnes.
Crews from seven areas were called to a commercial property on Dennis Road at around 12.30am on Saturday.
The fire involved 300 tonnes of scrap metal.
Three main jets and ground monitors were used to extinguish the flames at the scrap yard.
After extinguishing the blaze at 10.25am, firefighters remained at the scene until 4.30pm yesterday to make the area safe.
