A DREAM has come true for a Widnes schoolgirl and three of her friends when they met their heroes from One Direction in Manchester.

Sharron Gill, of Higher Ashton, Widnes, won the ‘money can’t buy’ concert tickets and private meet and greet with the world’s biggest band in a prize draw for Flying Start, British Airways’ global charity partnership with Comic Relief.

Her 10-year-old daughter, Laura is a huge One Direction fan but the dilemma she faced was choosing which of her friends from Lunts Heath Primary School to take with her.

She eventually invited band fans Emily Rose Sharples and Olivia Simm, both from Widnes. Her other friend Helena Burton was already going to the concert so she joined Sharron and the girls just for the meet and greet.

Sharron, of Higher Ashton, Widnes, said: “This was a dream come true for Laura, the One Directions boys were just lovely with them all and made them all feel special.

“Then to find we had front row seats was just amazing. When I bought the draw tickets it was for the charity really, I never thought for a minute that I would win”.

The winning ticket was chosen by band member Harry Styles’ dad, Des, at the British Airways Flying Start Concorde Ball in Manchester in March.

The event raised £6,500 to help change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.
